After your workout it is vital to replace the glycogen which gives your muscles their lean mass and energy. According to current research, the protein requirement of athletes is approximately 1.2 – 1.8g/kg body weight, compared with 0.8 - 0.9g/kg body weight for less active individuals.
For heavy athletes, this extra requirement is especially important. Studies have shown that the inclusion of protein in sports recovery drinks can improve recovery and reduce post exercise stress after strenuous training. Glycogen is the stored form of glucose which is used as an energy source in muscles. It is also the main component of lean muscle mass. Muscle glycogen can usually provide sufficient energy for about 45 minutes of high intensity exercise. Once these reserves are used up, muscles become fatigued and more sensitive to cramps.
You must replace your muscle glycogen immediately after exercise to feel fit and be ready to exercise the following day. The rate of post exercise muscle glycogen synthesis is 40 – 50% faster with carbohydrate / protein mixtures compared with carbohydrate only drinks. The presence of protein appears to enhance insulin secretion primarily influenced by the carbohydrates, producing an increased rate of muscle glycogen synthesis.
Complex carbohydrate is the fuel which drives muscle growth and fat breakdown. Extra protein intake is also important while dieting as it prevents the body from burning muscle tissue for energy. 35% protein, derived from whey and 40% complex carbohydrate to aid in absorption and to provide energy. compared to the big name expensive proteins ive used previously, this protein is just as good if not better. i strongly recommend it as it does its job and provides your body with complex carbs + proteins just after your workout
however, you should mix it with less water than recommended on the tub as it will taste a lot better

At last a decent product that does not cost the earth. The chocolate tastes fine (you do not want to gag afterwards). You do have to shake it a lot to make sure it mixes (which I think is due to the added creatine) but I use 2 mixers now, i.e. put 300ml in each mixer rather than 600ml in one (it mixes better) and when you get to the dregs you need to shake it again. Compared to the more expensive products that I used to buy, it does not mix as well and it does not taste as good - but I was pleasantly surprised to find a product as cheap as this that did taste good and did mix well. I would highly recommend this along with just the chocolate protein mix that they do - stop wasting your money on other more expensive products, this and the protein mix contains all you need - including those amino acids.

Does the job and pretty good value for money lasts me about 20 days i roughly have 3 a day most days, but you only really need two its just because of my busy schedule. taste is quite poor as is very strong because of the insane amount of powwder, would buy this product again though :)

The chocolate flavour is a bit too sweet and after now tasting the vanilla this is the one for me. great taste and good value for money. Will keep on using it.

Great all-in-one
Been on this for 4 months. 3 portions a day, giving the recommended serving. Keeps my energy levels high throughout the day and stopped muscle soreness I was getting after workouts.
Definitely pays to go for the 5kg tub.
Doesn't taste the best with water but it's nothing a teaspoon of drinking cocoa doesn't sort out. If you're really serious about gaining you just man up and drink it anyway.
Tastes better with milk.
Everything you need.
High Protein, High Calories, Low Fat, Creatine.
I like the fact that a vitamins and minerals premix is included in the ingredients.
I recommend this to all my serious mates.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the new chocolate taste is not as good as the old one. Having said that it is more than acceptable and certainly not the type to make you gag and feel sick. I have noticed 2 other changes to this product that are a big improvement; firstly it is a lot lighter on the stomach and secondly, it mixes a lot better - it is smoother. All in all an improvement - now if the flavour was the same as the old one then it would be 5 stars - however, highly recommended and I will keep on buying this product.
