Evolution Ingredients
Vitamin B6-Pyridoxal-5-phosphate, the active co-enzyme form of B6, is used in Evolution. Without adequate vitamin B6, the amino acids in dietary protein are not of much use to you. Vitamin B6 literally controls the amino acid absorption, metabolism & transformations in your body. It also directly participates in carbohydrate & fat metabolism, as well as the formation of red blood cells & antibodies. It is necessary for the absorption & utilization of certain minerals & is required for the proper functioning of over sixty enzyme systems in our bodies.
Replenish BCAA Matrix
The phrase branched-chain amino acids or BCAA is used to refer to the amino acids having aliphatic side-chains that are non-linear. These are leucine, isoleucine, and valine. The combination of these three essential amino acids make up over 1/3 of skeletal muscle in the human body, and play an important role in protein synthesis. BCAAs are currently used clinically to aid in the recovery of burn victims, as well as for supplementation for strength athletes. The BCAAs affect this metabolic pathway in three different manners. The first manner through which the metabolic pathway is affected is the increased production of insulin. It has been demonstrated that BCAA supplementation in accordance with carbohydrate intake following resistance exercise increases insulin output by 221%, which is much greater than the 66% supplementation without leucine. Leucine is the most readily oxidized BCAA and therefore the most effective at causing insulin secretion from the pancreas, and stimulating the metabolic pathway.
This is important because insulin is the initiating factor that begins the signaling cascade. The second effect is a phosphorylation cascade beginning with the activation of the Ras Rhed and ending with rpS6. The importance of rpS6 is that it induces mRNA translation. This translation leads to the production of proteins to build muscle. The other side of the pathway induces the action of eIF4G. This initiation factor causes the binding of mRNA within the ribosome thus providing the initial products needed for translation. This leads down to the final product via protein binding and phosphorylation, resulting in eIF4E which induces mRNA translation which in turn leads to chain elongation, and termination, resulting in net protein growth.
BCAAs play an important role in protein synthesis. In general terms, after a bout of resistance training the muscle will be in a catabolic state, with a protein synthesis deficit. This is because post exercise the MAPK signaling pathway is activated to induce muscle growth. While this is a pathway that will increase protein synthesis, it is not as effective as when combined with the BCAA signaling cascade. The two pathways act independent of each other. Because of this, when adequate amounts of BCAAs are ingested post workout (studies demonstrate that as little as 3g can be sufficient) the body is placed in a greater state of hypertrophy with a positive amount of protein synthesis. This is extremely important for athletes because it will decrease recovery time as it increases the rate at which lean body mass is gained. The use of BCAAs in burn victims results in the same positive protein synthesis. This allows victims to heal faster and return to normal activities at an increased rate, which is the treatment goal.
Magnaload Creatine Matrix
This matrix is a proprietary combination of creatine monohydrate and creatine MagnaPower. Creatine is nitrogenous organic acid that occurs naturally in vertebrates and helps to supply energy to muscle and nerve cells. Creatine was identified in 1832 when Michel Eugene Chevreul discovered it as a component of skeletal muscle, which he later named creatine after the Greek word for flesh, Kreas. Creatine by way of conversion to and from phosphocreatine is present and functions in all vertebrates, as well as some invertebrates, in conjunction with the enzyme creatine kinase. The presence of this energy buffer system keeps the ATP/ADP ratio high at sub cellular places where ATP is needed, which ensures that the free energy of ATP remains high and minimizes the loss of adenosine nucleotides, which would cause cellular dysfunction. Such high-energy phosphate buffers in the form of phosphocreatine are known as phosphagens. In addition, due to the presence of sub compartmentalized Creatine Kinase Isoforms at specific sites of the cell, the phosphocreatine/creatine kinase system also acts as an intracellular energy transport system from those places where ATP is generated (mitochondria and glycolysis) to those places where energy is needed and used, e.g., at the myofibrils for muscle contraction, at the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) for calcium pumping, and at the sites of many more biological processes that depend on ATP. In the human body, approximately half of the daily creatine is biosynthesized mainly in the vertebrates by the use of parts from three different amino acids, arginine, glycine and methionine. The rest is taken in by alimentary sources mainly from fresh fish and meat. Ninety-five percent of creatine is later stored in the skeletal muscles, with the rest in the brain, heart, testes, inner-ear hair cells, and other organs and cells.
Creatine MagnaPower is a chelate comprised of creatine bonded to an essential mineral selected from the group consisting of Mg, Ca, Cu, Zn, Fe, Cr, Co, Mo, Se and Mn to form a heterocyclic ring. Preferably, the metal is Mg, but Ca, Zn, Fe, Cr and Mn are also preferred. The creatine chelates of the present invention are capable of being absorbed in the stomach or intestines via active transport without substantial metabolism of the chelate. In other words, the creatine ligand is protected by the metal from undergoing cyclization in the acidic environment of the stomach and the metal is made more bioavailable due to the presence of the creatine ligand.
One of Albion's most recent patents is entitled "Bioavailable Chelates of Creatine and Essential Metals" (U.S. Patent #6,114,379). This is the basis for our Creatine Magna Power, which is a magnesium creatine chelate. The patent states that the production of this molecule provides for the protection of the creatine from cyclization (providing more active creatine) and the increased absorption of magnesium. Early studies have shown this molecule to out perform creatine and combination regimens of creatine and magnesium supplements in the generation and maintenance of energy.

Hydrolyzed whey ("predigested" with enzymes), yields superior nitrogen retention compared to regular whey proteins. This form of whey protein is already broken down into di and tri peptides allowing for quicker absorption making it the fastest acting protein available.

Whey protein is a milk-derived protein that is highly bioavailable and fast acting. It has many qualities that make it superior to most other protein sources, especially for the athlete. A fast acting protein, whey contains very high amounts of glutamine and branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) as well as other essential amino acids. Studies indicate that essential amino acids are the most important in supporting protein synthesis in the post-workout period.
Magnesium Glycyl Glutamine and Chromium Chelavite
A non-steroid containing anabolic nutrient formulation for the building and sustaining of muscle mass in humans or other warm-blooded animals, that enables the body to synthesize and maintain muscle at a mass and in a manner optimally suited to the genetic makeup of that person or animal. The formulation comprises effective amounts of a chromium salt, complex or chelate and a magnesium glycyl glutaminate chelate. Directions For Use
- As a dietary supplement, mix 1 scoop in 20-30 ounces of cold water and shake well. Begin drinking 30 minutes into exercise, sipping 4-5 ounces every 15 minutes.
